  • Dorothy Kelly
  • Dorothy Kelly is Senior Lecturer in Translation at the University of Granada.

    She obtained her first degree in Translating and Interpreting at Heriot-Watt University (Scotland) and her doctoral degree at the University of Granada (Spain), where she has been teaching Translation for over twenty years. Her main research interests are translator training, directionality in translation, and more recently training translator trainers. Alongside this activity, she has been very actively involved in coordinating student and staff exchange programmes since 1984; in particular, she was responsible for the triple degree programme Applied Languages Europe at the University of Granada from its inception in 1987 until 2002.

  • Mari Carmen Acuyo Verdejo
  • Mari Carmen Acuyo Verdejo has a degree in Teacher Training and a European PhD in Translation and Interpreting, both completed at the University of Granada.

    She has taught foreign language courses for Erasmus students from the University of Granada for more than two years. She is currently working as an Assistant at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting at UGR.

  • Elisa Calvo Encinas
  • Elisa Calvo studied Translation and Interpreting in Granada (Spain) and today she teaches at the Universidad Alfonso X el Sabio in Madrid (Spain) while completing her PhD at the Universidad de Granada (Spain).

    Her experience in intercultural higher education started in Regensburg (Germany), where she studied as an Erasmus student herself. She also experienced a study and research stay at DCU (Dublin, Ireland) on a free-mover basis. Between 2002 and 2004 she lectured as a language assistant at Heriot Watt University (Scotland). Her fields of interest are: Higher Education curriculum design, translation and interpreting teaching and learning, student employability and student mentoring and advice strategies.

  • Elvira Cámara Aguilera
  • Elvira Cámara Aguilera teaches Theory and Practice of Translation and Translation 2 C-A (English) at the Translation Faculty of the University of Granada (Spain), where she is full-time lecturer and where she obtained her PhD.

    She was ERASMUS programme coordinator for Portsmouth and Surrey (United Kingdom) Universities in the Translation Faculty from 2000 to 2002. Her main research interests are: children’s literature translation; translator training and translation and culture. From 2001 to 2005, she worked as an assistant for education programmes in the Andalusian UNESCO Centre in Granada (Spain).

  • Adrián Fuentes Luque
  • Adrián Fuentes Luque is Senior Lecturer in Translation at the University of Cadiz, specializing in the translation of audiovisual, tourism, and advertising material, as well as in legal and sworn translation.
    He has also taught at the universities of Granada (Spain) and Portsmouth (UK), and has carried out research in Canada. He has been also Senior Translator/Interpreter and Advisor at the Australian Embassy in Spain for several years. All these activities have offered him first-hand knowledge of different linguistic and cultural problems in various contexts. He has been coordinating an ERASMUS/SOCRATES programme with a British university for five years now and supervises the English Studies students’ training in different companies.

  • Evelyne Le Poder
  • Evelyne Le Poder is Lecturer at the Department of Translation and Interpreting at the University of Granada.

    She has a PhD in Humanities from the University of Provence (Aix-Marseille I, France) with the thesis entitled: “L’Espagne et L’Europe Communautaire: 1977-1987”. From 1995 to 1997, she developed the course “Introduction to Languages as a basis for contemporary cultures in the European framework” at the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting from the University of Vigo (Spain). She also taught the doctorate course entitled: “The construction of Europe and the principle of Multilinguism”.

  • Marián Morón Martín
  • Marián Morón has a bachelor degree in Translation and Interpreting and she is a postgraduate student within the doctoral programme Translation, Society and Communication (University of Granada, Spain).

    As a student, she has participated in different mobility programmes in the United Kingdom, France and Luxemburg. She has worked as a Translation lecturer at the University of Granada, and taken part in the coordination of a student mobility programme of the California State University (United States) within the University of Granada. She is currently working in her doctoral dissertation on the triple-award mobility programme ALE (Applied Languages Europe).

  • Marie Louise Nobs Federer
  • Marie Louise Nobs Federer is Lecturer at the Department of Translation and Interpreting of the University of Granada (Spain).

    She is coordinator of students’ exchange programmes between the University of Granada and the Humbolt Universität Berlin (Germany), the Karl Franzens Universität Innsbruck (Austria) and the University of Tampere (Finland). Her main research interests are: reception of translations by real users, translation quality and assessment, directionality in Translation and didactics of Translation.

  • Dolores Sanchez
  • Dolores Sánchez is Lecturer at the Department of Translation and Interpreting of the University of Granada (Spain).

    She has a B.A. in Hispanic Studies by the University of Toulouse Le Mirail (France) and her PhD by the University of Granada (Spain).Her main research interests are: analysis of scientific discourse; translation of scientific texts; translation and gender and translator training. She has coordinated five ERASMUS exchange programmes for the Faculty of Translation and Interpreting of the University of Granada from 1987 to 1996; and she has cooperated in the coordination of the triple degree programme Applied Languages Europe between 1987 and 2001. She has also participated in the Innovative Teaching Project “The multilingual and multilicultural classroom” developed at the University of Granada during the academic year 2002-2003. She is also Head of international relations and coordinator of bilateral exchange programmes with five European universities in the Women’s Studies Institute of the University of Granada.

  • Guadalupe Soriano Barabino
  • Guadalupe Soriano Barabino is Lecturer in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Granada.

    Her main field of specialisation is legal translation. Before lecturing at the University of Granada, she was also a lecturer at the universities of Salamanca (Spain) and Ulster (Northern Ireland). Since 2002, she takes part in the coordination of international programmes of US students at the University of Granada. As a student, she has studied at the Universities of Galway (National University of Ireland), Thames Valley University (United Kingdom) and Aix-en-Provence (France) under the ERASMUS/SOCRATES scheme. She is also a graduate of the ALE (Applied Languages Europe) programme. She is «Doctor Europeus».

  • Inmaculada Soriano García
  • Inmaculada Soriano García has a bachelor degree in Translation and Interpreting and she is a postgraduate student within the doctoral programme Translation, Society and Communication (University of Granada, Spain).

    Her main investigation fields are translation and languages teaching. From 2001 to 2004 she was teaching at the Moscow State Linguistics University and at the Instituto Cervantes in Moscow. Moreover, she has been teaching Translation, IT Applied to Translation and Teaching French as a Foreign Language at the University of Granada. At the moment, she is working on her Doctoral dissertation on students’ mobility programmes.

  • Dimitra Tsokaktsidu
  • Dimitra Tsokaktsidu is Lecturer of Greek for speakers of other languages at the University of Cyprus.

    Her study entitled: “Exchange students in the Translation Classroom”, together with her work: “Exchange students in the classroom: A guide of good practices”, were the origin of the TeMCU proposal, and also of the innovative research project entitled: “The multilingual and multicultural classroom”, developed at the University of Granada. She has recently obtained her PhD at the University of Granada, within the doctorate programme Translation, Society and Communication, after presenting her study: The Multilingual and Multicultural Translation Classroom: implications for the Didactics of Translation.

  • Catherine Way
  • Catherine Way is Lecturer in Translation and Interpreting at the University of Granada, specializing in legal and economic translation, translator training and directionality.

    For the last three years she has taught on the postgraduate course in Immigration Law offered by the University of Granada, highlighting the linguistic and cultural problems encountered by immigrants in Spain. She has held posts in International Relations at her University, coordinating ERASMUS/SOCRATES programmes with more than twenty European universities for more than twelve years.

  • José Antonio Ortega Carrillo
  • Jose Antonio Ortega Carrillo is Senior Lecturer in the Department of Didactics and School Management at the University of Granada (Spain).

    He is President of the Spanish Confederation of UNESCO Clubs, Centres and Associations. He has been visiting lecturer in various Universities in Spain and abroad. He has coordinated and he participates, at present, in different European LEONARDO DA VINCI and SOCRATES programmes. He also participates in a teacher training project coordinated by the University of Granada and the University Mohammed V Souissi in Rabat (Morocco). His main research interests are: distance learning, multimedia communication, education associations in areas of conflict and the promotion of the culture of peace, tolerance and multiculturality.

  • Juan Francisco Romero Barriga
  • Juan Francisco Romero Barriga has a BA in Phsicology and a PhD in Pedagogy, both by the University of Granada (Spain).

    At present, he is Lecturer at the Education Faculty at the University of Granada. He was an ERASMUS student in the Faculté des Lettres, Arts et Sciences Humaines de Nice (France). His main research interest is the development of R&D projects. More specifically, he takes part in the the European Programme Interregional III: Applied and Supervised programme for the integration of children from immigrant backgrounds into the society and the education system of the host community.

  • Francisco Andrés García Martínez
  • Francisco Andrés García Martínez is a teacher for adult students and researcher at the Department of Didactics and School Management of the University of Granada.

    He is also director of the publications entitled: Al-Madraza and Etic@net. He is president of the Spanish Association of Researchers and Administrators in the field of Distance learning (AIEAD) and a member of the Andalusian UNESCO Centre. His main research interests are: the design of didactic materials for distance learning, evaluation and assessment of the processes of e-learning and self-learning, e-learning proposals and distance/online education.

  • Jose Luis Villena Higueras is Lecturer in the Department of Didactics and School Management at the University of Granada, at the Melilla Campus (Spain).

    His PhD deals with international cooperation within several teaching staff mobility programmes’ experiences. His main fields of research are: education and training for international development, innovative teaching techniques and information and communication technology. Moreover, he coordinates several international projects in the field of education for solidarity.

  • Nike K. Pokorn
  • Nike K. Pokorn is Senior Lecturer and the head of Department of Translation at the University of Ljubljana (Slovenia).

    She is the author of two books in the field of translation theory, the most recent of which is Challenging the traditional axioms: Translation into a non-mother tongue.

  • David Limon
  • David Limon has been employed at the Department of Translation, Faculty of Arts, University of Ljubljana (Slovenia), for six years.

    At the start of his career he taught English in Nigeria, Spain, Yugoslavia and Britain. From 1985 to 1998 he worked in interactive video, computer-based training and multimedia design for a number of British companies; his areas of specialisation were communication skills and language training. As a director of the company Libra Multimedia, he was the coordinator of the Socrates Lingua Action D project City Talk (1996-1999), which involved 5 European universities; he was also involved as a partner in a Leonardo project, coordinated by Thames Valley University, providing distance-learning programmes for language training to the European airline industry. He has a PhD in Linguistics.

  • Martin Chappell
  • Martin Chappell is currently Head of the Department of Languages and Cultural Studies in the College of Humanities at the University of Limerick (Ireland).

    He was educated at the universities of Leicester, Sussex and Lancaster (United Kingdom). He came to Limerick in 1976, having previously worked in Khartoum (Sudan) and Oxford Polytechnic (United Kingdom). He has a wide experience in setting up and running ERASMUS and TEMPUS programmes since 1989. His research interests include Cultural Theory, European cinema and French media.

  • Carolina P. Amador Moreno
  • Carolina P. Amador Moreno is a graduate from the University of Extremadura (Spain), and the University of Ulster (Northern Ireland). She holds a European Doctorate in English Studies.

    She was Vice-President of the Spanish Young Linguists Association (AJL) from 1998 to 1999, and she currently lectures in the Department of Languages and Cultural Studies in the University of Limerick (Ireland). Her research and teaching interests include Linguistics (especially sociolinguistics, dialectology, bilingualism, stylistics, discourse analysis, second language acquisition, corpus linguistics) and Translation. She has several publications related to the English spoken in Ireland. She has participated in the ERASMUS exchange program both as a student and teaching staff.

University John Moores de Liverpool

  • Christine Foulkes
  • She has taught since 1972 in the United Kingdom and overseas. After her M.Ed in 1982 she worked at Salford University in ESOL (Manchester, United Kingdom).

    She also undertook British Council Specialist Tours to Senegal, Nigeria, Yugoslavia and Israel to deliver teacher training programmes. She joined Liverpool John Moores University (United Kingdom) in 1995 as a Senior Lecturer in ESOL where she coordinate, design and deliver modules for the SOCRATES/ERASMUS Exchange programme. She also has responsibility for the International Foundation Programme with multicultural student groups. She is about to complete a cross faculty Assessment Fellowship. In 2004, she submitted her M.Phil entitled: A Student-Centred Perspective of the Socrates / Erasmus Exchange programme: Comparison of Expectations and Experience, where she has examined the multicultural dimension and impact that these students bring to bear on a new learning and teaching environment.

  • Sue Hill
  • Sue Hill is Principal Lecturer, Programme Leader and Subject Group Leader for ESOL and TESOL at Liverpool John Moores University (United Kingdom).

    She has more than 15 years experience in the design and delivery of TESOL teacher training at both undergraduate and postgraduate degree levels. She has also developed the university’s portfolio of internationally recognised and professionally accredited TESOL courses. In addition to having responsibility for institution-wide English language programmes and language support for non-native speakers (IWLP), she has also taken a lead role in the development of international collaborative partnerships with the Beijing Institute of Economics and Management and the University of Tongling (China).
